As you embark on your psychic intuitive development, making sure that you are practicing safely is of utmost importance. As this six step process was being developed I used the understanding I have gathered over years of helping people expand their intuitive skills. With loads of experience providing spiritual coaching for people looking to deepen their spiritual experience, I found that many people were afraid that they would get themselves into spiritual trouble if they were not careful. As I was developing this six step process I knew that all of my years teaching psychic protection would become extremely helpful. I knew that psychic protection and hygiene would play important roles in psychic development.

Psychic hygiene and psychic protection are skills that you likely use every day. When you feel the desire to go for walk after a long day at work, this can be a form of psychic hygiene. Your workout routine might be providing a psychic clearing of sorts. Wearing a favorite necklace that makes you safe, can a form of psychic protection. Not to mention more obvious choices like smoke cleansing, meditation and sound baths. You probably unconsciously employ psychic clearing strategies every day.
I notice for myself, that my nervous system is closely tied to my psychic perception systems. I can feel uneasy for an unknown reason when I am perceiving spirits. Sometimes I do not know why I am feeling uneasy. My uneasy feelings can manifest as nausea, ungrounded or distracted. For some folks its helpful to hear about other peoples’ experiences that might lead them to understand their own need for psychic hygiene. Practicing regular psychic hygiene can help ease experiences of unease. I recommend that people choose regular practices to help themselves not be overwhelmed by their psychic experiences.
Some people do daily practices, weekly practices or monthly. I suggest that you employ practices that fit easily into your lifestyle. Meditation is one of my favorite psychic hygiene practices. Mediating daily can help slow the mind down and create space for your inner intuition to be more easily recognized. When you finish work or come home from work might be another time to practice psychic hygiene. Removing your work clothes, taking a shower or spending some time in nature could help remove the debris of your work life and reset your nervous system.

Implementing weekly and monthly practices can also help you maintain good grounding and centering to release the worries and concerns of modern life. At the end of a work week, you can take a moment to consciously set down your daily work-life and this can benefit your home life. Sometimes I will make a list of the things that need to be accomplished next week so that I do not have to think about these things during my off-time. This may seem like a time management task (and it is), this can also help you be more present in your home life.
Monthly practices might be tied to the cycles of the moon. I like to clear my home on the full moons and new moons. I typically use smoke cleansing techniques. I like to recommend that people use plants like lavender, rosemary, mugwort, cedar or juniper smoke cleansing wands. Sage is typically used but I like to suggest these other plants so that white sage is not over-harvested and so that it is left for indigenous people to use. Smoke cleansing has been used by all cultures around the world to clear the psychic debris of our lives. You can also use your favorite incense for this purpose. To smoke cleanse your home, I begin at my front door, opening as many windows in my house as I can, working clock-wise through my home. Once I have returned back to my front door I close the door and windows. Sometimes I will say a prayer such as “remove all that is no longer serving me and my family.”
Some people also employ practices based on the seasons. The equinoxes and solstices provide nice anchor points for this work. The equinoxes fall around September 21st and March 21st. The Solstices are around December 21st and June 21st. This quarterly schedule can provide a reminder to clear your spaces including your home, work space and even outdoor space perimeter. Those of us that are sensitive to psychic energies can be attractive to spirits who are seeking to communicate with psychic mediums. If you have this natural skill, you might not notice that spiritual entities gather around your spaces. By clearing this spaces frequently you can remove entities that are pulling energy your you by reaching out for connection.

Whatever your circumstance, I find that it is helpful to clear your personal space (body) and living spaces (home and work) with regularity. Creating practices that cleanse and renew your own connection to the divine can provide and deeper connection to your psychic intuition and help these resources be readily available when you need them. I teach classes regularly on psychic protection as well as I have some free videos on my website about psychic hygiene and protection practices. These free lectures have tips and ideas for you to employ quickly and easily.
